CrossRoads 2018: By The Numbers
December 26th, 2018  |  by

As the start of a new year approaches, CrossRoads Missions wanted to take a special look back at all that we and our great volunteers accomplished in 2018.

34: The number of homes, currently, in the Piedra Angular neighborhood in Piedras Negras, Mexico. This neighborhood was built through the hard work of CrossRoads volunteers over the years, populated by Christian families who minister to their larger community in their own methods. In 2018, we began prep work on two new homes in the neighborhood. We also continued to develop our Community Outreach Center in the neighborhood, specifically working on the second floor as well as the bathrooms.

16: The number of mission groups that went to Piedras Negras in 2018. Combined, these volunteers logged more than 9,500 hours of service. In addition to construction, there were three medical mission trips organized, where more than 500 patients were seen and cared for at clinics held in conjunction with local churches there. Other projects included service with local ministries including the Casa de Paz children’s home, the Casa Bethesda special needs ministry, the Colegio Libertad Christian school, and the Torre de Refugio immigrant ministry.

800: The total number of backpacks distributed to needy children in Kentucky by volunteers working in our Appalachia field. These backpacks were filled with school supplies before being distributed. All told, Appalachia groups worked on 31 projects in 2018, with the efforts directly affecting 26 families and five local ministries.

14: The total number of groups who served in our New Orleans field. They worked on 12 different projects, including a complete renovation of Perrin House, which will serve as lodging for individuals working in ministry in the New Orleans area. All told, New Orleans groups combined for more than 10,000 total hours of service.

1,034: The total number of homes that have been built by our partner program, Help Build Hope, since its inception. Holding 61 events across the nation in 2018, HBH constructed 109 homes, seeing 20 percent increase in the number of events held and a 56 percent boost in the number of homes built. This included a one-day, 27-home build that saw more than 4,000 volunteers combine their efforts in a span of four hours in Louisville, KY.

We accomplished so much and served so many in 2018. We are looking to do even more next year, but we can’t do it alone. Will you consider contributing to our year-end gift? All the proceeds will go to fund our efforts in 2019. CrossRoads is a 501 (c) non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible.
