CrossRoads Missions is involved in helping to restore the presence and influence of the church in Inner-City urban areas.
In Louisville, KY; we are partnering with Jefferson Street Baptist Center and the Salvation Army's Center of Hope focusing on facility repairs and renovations. Our primary goal is to update Jefferson Street Baptist Centers' worn down homeless shelter in order to help enable them in serving the homeless population of Louisville. At the Salvation Army we are assisting them as they transition to a new location. Our goal is to provide opportunities for people to learn about homelessness, to serve the homeless populations, and most of all grow in their love for God and others.
In Cincinnati, OH; Crossroads Missions will be working with State Avenue Church of Christ and Hope Inner City to provide some much needed repairs and up keep on the storefront building that they occupy. This building was originally built in the 1900's. The State Avenue Church of Christ has been shining the light of Christ in the neighborhood for the past 40 years. It ministers to over 100 people each week through a relationship based ministry. The Hope of Christ has transformed many lives throughout the history of this church and continues to do so today.
Despite the negative reputation the inner city gets, because of drugs, crime, and low education rates, it is a place where many wonderful people live. Some of its greatest characteristics are loyalty and people focus. One statistic indicates that nearly 50% of the adults in Lower Price Hill area are illiterate. This neighborhood also once held the record for the highest high school drop out rate in the state of Ohio. Hope Inner City’s goal is to start more relationship-focused churches in other inner city neighborhoods throughout Cincinnati and the United States - in so doing the hope of Jesus Christ will be brought to those who live in the inner city!
