Retirement... What's That?

A person must work really really hard to find something in the Bible that supports the typical American mindset regarding retirement. It typically means saving up some kind of a nest egg, moving to a condo or retirement community and spending ones twilight years "enjoying life". There is, of course, imageanother choice that can be made that brings greater enjoyment to life and substantial blessing and benefit to the Cause of sharing Christ. Chuck McCoy gives us a wonderful example in his recent newsletter of "another choice" ... where his investment in life completely redefines "retirement".

July 21, 2010 Well, I’m back home in Indiana. I’ll take you through the last several weeks of travels and fun with CrossRoads. I’ve covered quite a few miles and done different things since last writing. I got to Piedras on March 8th and then waited until the 18th to get all of the electrical supplies across the border so I could get working on the community building. Meanwhile I got to practice some other skills, like installing windows and replacing tiles. We got most of the wires pulled and were almost ready to leave when Jimmy asked if maybe we could do the wiring in Gustavo’s new office. Then, could we get the wiring done in Michael’s office building and maybe wire the house that will be the men’s dorm ? Easter weekend was a chance to take a break and drive back to Harlingen and spend the weekend with son David and family and then back to Piedras. We finished up our work in Piedras - Read Churck's complete newsletter in PDF format here.

Who Is CrossRoads Missions?

CrossRoads Missions combines the biblical principles of worship, service and discipleship by being a doorway for churches and individuals seeking ministry opportunities in places they may otherwise have difficulty serving. CrossRoads Missions has been accomplishing this goal by bringing people of all ages into missions in the United States and foreign fields since 1993. These experiences greatly challenge those who participate to consider deeper involvement in ministry in both the world and their own communities.

Mission teams who participate with CrossRoads Missions are involved in multiple areas of ministry including: construction, medical missions, education, discipleship, evangelism, worship, and disaster relief. CrossRoads Missions enhances existing local ministries, supporting them with additional resources they may be unable to provide. CrossRoads Missions achieves its highest level of effectiveness by working alongside of these ministries. When a CrossRoads Missions team leaves a mission field, ministering the Gospel does not. We are engaged in ministry, mission and service in Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY, Appalachia Kentucky, Piedras Negras, Mexico, and in the New Orleans, LA area.
