CrossRoads Missions - Inner City Field

Location

CrossRoads serves in the Inner-cities of Louisville, Kentucky and various other cities throughout the United States.

Mission Information

Area Demographics

Over 39 million people in the US live in poverty and that number is growing every day.

More than 11,000 people in the Louisville area find themselves without a place to call home and over 80,000 are struggling day to day while living under the poverty level.

Purpose

CrossRoads Missions desires to partner with area ministries and organizations to improve the standard of living, raise expectations, and find hope in the grace of Christ for families in urban areas. We do this by developing long-term relationships with members of the community through community outreach activities while leading facility renovation and remodeling projects.  Our goal is to provide opportunities for people to learn about the “felt-needs” of the residents of the Inner-City, including the homeless and underserved.

Understanding the Inner-City

Many churches, families and individuals in urban areas desire to improve their community.  The Inner-City holds the struggles of overwhelming joblessness, and limited resources (e.g., food, shelter, etc.). The truth is: a great majority of the homeless have served to protect our nation in the Armed Forces while the daily work efforts of underserved keep our country moving forward. Some have relocated from other cities in search of something more, while others have remained steadfast in their loyalty to their communities— determined to change the landscape of the lives of those living there.  Whatever the desire, situation or circumstance, we are here to assist with that change.  We all need to be shown and reminded of Christ’s love for each of us!

Mission Information

Louisville, KY: CrossRoads Missions works with Jefferson Street Baptist Center, South Louisville Christian Church as well as other organizations. We focus on facility repairs, renovations and community beautification projects. Our goal is to provide opportunities for people to learn about the inner-city, to serve the people in those areas and most of all grow in their love for God and others.

Newburg Area: We partner with The Soul Center located in the Newburg Boys & Girls Club to provide services to the Newburg Community.  Though a new church plant, The Soul Center is already serving as a shining light of Christ in the neighborhood and will do so for years to come. It ministers to over 100 people each week through a relationship-based ministry. The Soul Center has been used by God to transform many lives throughout the Newburg Community and will continue to do so with your help.

Schedule

A typical week or weekend includes:

Community programs - During the week groups have the opportunity to participate in worship with the local church and prepare for youth outreach programs, such as after school programs in the spring/fall or during summer VBS.

Fellowship - During the week you will spend time in fellowship with one another, the staff of CrossRoads Missions and local community members.
