PARTICIPANT HOUSING UPDATE!

Housing for all June participants has been confirmed. We hope to have housing information for July forward around Monday, June 21st. We apologize for this rapid changing situation brought about by circumstances not within the control of CrossRoads Missions. Contact us here.

We are excited to be offering another season of Short-Term Mission Trips to New Orleans, Louisiana in 2010!

In the months following the devastating blow of Hurricane Katrina (August 29, 2005), CrossRoads Missions set out to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to the hurting people of the greater New Orleans area. Initially, our work began in NO East and Chalmette, Louisiana with gutting houses and clearing roadways and lots. Since then, our work with local partners has allowed us to build new homes, repair and renovate damaged homes for local residents, and assist new church plants and inner-city ministries in a variety of community development programs and outreach activities.

God wants His people to "shine like stars in the universe" (Phil.2:15). At CrossRoads Missions NO we want to provide a platform for volunteers to come and share their gifts, talents and love of Christ with the people of Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes. There is still much work to be done!

Join us in the new year! 2010 promises many new ways to serve and shine bright!

2009 Spring New Orleans Trip

A Few Highlights from 2009  ~

  • Over 1,000 volunteers from atleast 15 different states and Canada joined us in making a difference in the world.
  • 11 individuals made decisions for Christ! Big praises!!
  • Our volunteers completely gutted and renovated two homes in St. Roch.
  • We cleared lots, mowed yards, painted fences and poured driveways and sidewalks.
  • We handed out over 14,000 flyers in the Mid City neighborhood promoting the Fun Fridays program and opening of Hope Christian Church.
  • We wheelbarreled several tons of sand to be used as a foundation to the floor that was later poured for The Gathering Place Community Center in Arabi, LA.
  • We assisted both Hope Christian Church and Excite All-Stars in their summer kid's programs.
  • We served roughly 6,000 free hotdogs, chips and drinks at our weekly Outreach Night in Taylor and St. Roch Parks, after picking up trash in the parks the day before.
  • We drywalled, mudded, sanded and painted the offices of St. Roch Community Church. We also sorted and organized the inventory of their Thrift Store.
  • Our staff made some changes during the spring. Bruce Dale and his family moved here from Louisville, KY in February. Monte Brenneman and his family joined us in May after working for two years in the Gulf Port, MS disaster relief effort. Both Bruce and Monte serve as Project Managers. Mr. Chuck remains to be an integral part of our staff as the "cheap screwdriver". Julie Whiteman decided to extend her internship to a second year as our Group Care Coordinator. We also had the pleasure of working with Year-Long Interns Nate Roach, Andy Schneider, Toni Davis and Jeremy Foushee, and Summer Interns Jane Oh, Tim Kylander, and Sean Dunbar.
